    Gurgaon - The Millennium City

Well, I have had enough of people calling Gurgaon as a "Goan (village)".. Its time now, i introduce you people to the real Gurgaon!

    History:
Guru Gaon Or Guru Gram - "The Village Of The Teacher" was the area where Guru Dronacharya gave his teachings on warfare and arms to the five Pandavas when they were young.

Ok coming back to time, lets see what gurgaon actually is...

Gurgaon has emerged as the hub of IT and other new-age businesses. It is home to offices of several MNCs.

A number of BPO and KPO firms such as Keane, Genpact, IBM, Evalueserve, Dell, British Telecom, Accenture, eSCL Global, Hewitt Associates and Convergys have Gurgaon as their regional operations hub.

India currently has 16 airlines, out of which IndiGo Airlines, Spice Jet and MDLR Airlines have their headquarters in Gurgaon.

Several auto-manufacturing facilities exist including India's largest passenger car company, Maruti Suzuki, and largest motorcycle company, Hero Honda, are based in Gurgaon.

Gurgaon currently has 2, 18 hole golf course, being the biggest in the nation!

Gurgaon is also known as the "Mall Capital Of India", because it has the largest number of malls. The Biggest Mall of India - "Ambience Mall" is also located in Gurgaon, While the Biggest Mall Of India - "Mall Of India" is under construction.

Gurgaon is well connected with Delhi and other neighbouring cities via road, railways etc! The metro rail connecting Gurgaon and Delhi is expected to be completed by 2010. The 32 lane toll gate at National Highway 8(Gurgaon-Delhi Border) is the largest in Asia and third largest in the World.

Gurgaon also has the biggest Audi, BMW showrooms! Name the brand and you will find it here!

Gurgaon is expected to be the next Health City of India.

Gurgaon has a literacy rate of over 77%(2001 Census).

Also to add to all this, Gurgaon has loads of 5 star hotels, discs and pubs! Some of them are the best in India.

    Whats more?
    - The Formula One team Force India owned by industrialist, Vijay Mallya also has plans to make a practice circuit in Gurgaon, Near 32nd Milestone.
    - There are also plans to extend the number of teams in IPL. That might give a chance for Gurgaon to have its own team.
    - By 2010, the state government hopes to complete a world class Golden Triangle City Centre (GTCC) with as many as four tallest buildings in the world. Each of the proposed skyscrapers will be of 140 floors, taller than Taipei 101 which currently is the highest manmade structure on the planet.
    - Gurgaon soon will also have its own metro, monorail!

I still wonder why people call it a "Gaon"...!

You forgot something. Gurgaon has a single, I repeat just ONE fire station to manage the whole city.

This is among many of the other problems that still don't make it compareable with other full cities. 'full' because I consider a city without basic amenities like the one mentioned above to be a township, rather than a city.

well ya "full" cities need that.. but let me correct you there a bit, gurgaon has 3 goverment fire stations, and there are other numerous private stations that have been built in the last 1-2 years, and some more are coming up to handle the fire for the highrise buildings.

Hi, i totally disagree with your views and believe that this is a shit city in the making especially in the summers. Do you know the plight of the people with the fuckin power cuts. This city has not given anybody to accept and treasure with when one return back to their hometowns. Please do not paste these pictures and make the fuckin gurgaon seem like heaven. I definitely think that haryana as a state and the people in general are noithing but a bunch of idiots who have their brains floating down from the head to the foot. Please get ur website checked.

The State Govt. has no contribution in developing the basic infrastructure like roads, street lights, power supply etc, whats the fun of looking at the private buildings like from D.L.F etc. they don't provide facilities for all except their clients. So, the govt. should take keen interest in providing the basic requirements.
